BLOCK III Assignment

All student compositions will be reviewed, and they will receive personalized feedback from Polo Ortí.

Instructions:

Create a musical piece that lasts a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 10 minutes, incorporating all the techniques presented in this third block.

Include elements from the previous blocks to appreciate these new techniques.

The composition must be presented in both audio (mp3) and sheet music.
The sheet music format can be presented with chord notation and melody, or without chord notation but displaying the musical notation, or both.

The maximum file size is 10M

 

  • Create a chord progression with a clear melody, and subsequently, reharmonize the melody through a change in chord color.
  • Develop another chord sequence and reharmonize it using the technique of changing the bass note.
  • During a section of the composition, reharmonize the melody using both diatonic and parallel block chords.
  • Apply the concept of common tones, for instance, use a pedal on the highest note and generate a sequence of descending chords below it.
  • Use a pedal note in the bass and reharmonize a specific melody.
